The Badge Alliance: Badges and the impact they may have, for ALL!

It has been discussed the importance of formal recognition of informal learning, competencies, developed through hobbies, work experience, without sometimes even realizing them. In Europe, the different countries have developed different formal recognition models, more or less, formal, requiring the participation in formal processes, before these competencies are formally recognized. The badges approach is quite different and requires a validation process, standards that will make it a formal reality for ALL. The badges have been mainly considered for those with less economic possibilities. This ethical basis, starts from an exclusion principle, instead of a right entitled to all (a Human Rights principle), no matter economical background, race, sexual orientation, age…The need to change the discourse is critical, become a normative discourse…why not make it part of the Sustainable Development Goals??? Just a thought… 🙂
